Kohtari selects Microsoft to Build AI-Powered Insights on Water Health

Predicting water quality issues before they happen is critical for protecting ecosystems and communities. That’s why we’re excited to announce a strategic partnership with Microsoft to accelerate the development of our AI-powered water quality monitoring platform.

Leveraging Azure, advanced AI and data collected from drones, we’re building predictive models that provide actionable insights on water quality. This includes the early warning signs of algal blooms, a growing global concern for public health and the environment.

By combining Kohtari’s expertise in environmental monitoring with Microsoft Azure’s powerful AI and analytics tools, we are laying the foundation for dashboards and predictive capabilities.

These solutions will help water companies and regulators better understand patterns in water health and crucially, take action to protect them.

Simon Mahon, Snr Technology Strategist at Microsoft, on the partnership:

“We’re hugely excited at Microsoft by Kohtari’s mission to transform water health monitoring, leveraging Microsoft’s AI and data analytics capabilities. This partnership will empower water companies and regulators with tools to enable proactive management and safeguarding of our precious water sources.

We’re proud at Microsoft to partner with Kohtari on this important initiative”

Our CTO, Stuart Evans, on enabling predictive water insights:

“The Microsoft Azure platform provides the perfect environment to deliver real-time, intelligent insights that help us keep our waters safer.

By combining intelligent analytics tools, machine learning and agentic AI, we can process more data at scale and begin uncovering patterns that allow us to predict events like algal blooms before they happen.

We are delighted to be partnering with Microsoft on this exciting next chapter.”

Our CEO, James Sumsion, on building our global platform:

“Algal blooms are an escalating global challenge, threatening water quality, ecosystems and communities worldwide.

Partnering with Microsoft gives our data scientists the tools and scale needed to build a truly global platform — one capable of delivering AI-driven predictive insights to help water companies act faster and with greater confidence.

Looking ahead

Our AI-powered platform’s development is well underway, and this partnership marks an important milestone in that journey.

Together with Microsoft, we’re taking a major step toward our vision — a world where every significant water body is digitally visible, understood and protected.
